Job Description
Operational and Project Activities:
Prioritize and respond to incoming work orders, calls and/or emails regarding IT
infrastructure systems
Maintain policies and procedures that are in scope of IT infrastructure
systems
During project activities, participate in the research, design, and deployment of IT
Infrastructure systems
Manage and ensure optimal operation of all IT Infrastructure systems
Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of IT
infrastructure components
Where necessary, liaise with service providers and 3rd party IT vendors
Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with departmental
administration regarding pertinent IT infrastructure activities
Monitor, Maintain, and perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of
complex network problems for a variety of end-users and recommend and
implement corrective solutions
Manage planning and maintenance of network cabling, including MDF and IDF closets
Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position
During times of resource constraint, function as a backup to the local desktop support
team, per IT management direction
Knowledge & Experience:
Working knowledge and experience with configuration and administration of physical
and virtual servers (i.e. IBM hardware, VMware ESXi 5 infrastructure) in a
data center environment
Working knowledge and experience with LAN / WAN network equipment (i.e. Cisco
routers, switches, and Cisco / Aruba wireless controllers and access
points)
Knowledge of SAN technologies (i.e. ISCSI) and hardware (i.e. Client P4000 SAN)
Knowledge of Firewall technologies and configuration methodology (i.e. Cisco ASA)
Knowledge and experience with structured network cabling (i.e. copper and fiber types /
standards), and cable management best practice
Knowledge of general network and server management best practice
Knowledge of Tele
communications systems; PBX (i.e. Nortel Option 11c), voice mail (Avaya) and voice
cabling infrastructure (Krone and 66 type punch down blocks) and Voice
over Internet Protocol technologies (VoIP)
Knowledge of KVM technologies
Knowledge of thin clients (i.e. WYSE), TV displays and collaboration tools (i.e. Skype
for Business)
Knowledge and experience with laser printers and multi-function print devices (MFPs)
Knowledge of Information and Security management best practice
Knowledge, understanding, and ability to create and maintain thorough technical
documentation
Knowledge and experience with ITSM ticketing system (i.e. Remedy)

Ability to conduct research into enterprise IT infrastructure systems as required
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
