Job Summary
An intelligent qualified Legal Practitioner with a cast-iron bias for Corporate/Commercial practice is urgently needed. Our law firm is Corporate/Commercial-based, headquartered at New Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria. The ideal candidate must possess between 2 to 4 years post-call experience in Corporate/Commercial practice and must not be more than 30 years old. (LL.M or ADR certification, definitely an advantage)

Reports To: Principal Partner/CEO
Responsible for the turn-key handling of all research and assigned legal cases and complex, diverse portfolio of legal and regulatory and related matters.
Implement, maintain and monitor the legal, regulatory and compliance activities of companies and organizations.
Drafting and reviewing various types of Agreements involving a variety of legal issues in Litigation & Corporate Services Units.
Self-managing all Litigation, Corporate/Commercial & Regulatory matters and providing ownership responsibility for a large volume of such matters and reporting timeously to the Principal Partner/CEO.
Consulting with the Principal Partner/CEO in the management and maintenance of oversight responsibility in Corporate/Commercial, Litigation & Regulatory matters for clients and organizations.
Juggling, multi-tasking and successfully prioritizing competing Corporate/Commercial, litigation and Corporate/Commercial work streams.
Leading any special projects or initiatives as assigned by the Principal Partner/CEO.
Ensuring contracts, agreements, policies and procedures of clients/companies and organizations adhere to existing regulations.
Updating the Litigation and Corporate/Commercial Trackers
Coordinating with the Litigation unit on court-related matters as need arises.
Serving as the primary point person for the enforcement of firm's ethics and compliance activities and effectively supporting and boosting Business Development drive;
Working collaboratively on a broad spectrum of litigation and Corporate/Commercial matters to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, facilitating a team-based approach.
Conducting research and preparing legal opinions on litigation and other transactional matters.
Living, upholding and modeling firm’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Transparency and Assiduity with the ability to demonstrate those optimal deserving of the firm positively and proactively in daily performance and communications.
Coordinating with the Principal Partner/CEO on specific assignments, review preliminary advice and provide internal recommendations.
Drafting responses to correspondence and actively following up and giving timeous feedback on Litigation and Transactional issues, as needs arise.
Ensuring that the firm exercises due diligence and maintains strict compliance with legal practice ethos in relationship with clients and stakeholders and maintaining sound internal controls to operate with integrity and protect against legal or financial risk.
Preparing Corporate/Commercial, Litigation/Regulatory metrics and reporting and performing factual legal research.
Promptly responding to all email and phone inquiries from, and interfacing with the clients and the team in a professional manner and in consonance with the firm’s ‘E-mail Policy Manual’.
Assisting in all assigned transactional/litigation (civil, criminal and commercial) matters.
Actively involved in and self-managing Business Development (BD) initiatives.
Participating in NBA activities and other business meetings on behalf of the firm and proactively providing strategic advice to find pragmatic legal solutions.
Managing and maintaining legal documents and databases and ensuring that all documents/pleadings have been proofread, edited and revised as necessary.
Providing Weekly Reports and regular updates on Research, Litigation & Transactional cases.
Any other lawful duties assigned by the Principal Partner/CEO.
